7 basic rules:
Keep it simple
Use your library, how many people are actually users of their library?
People want to be comfortable.
Checking out blankets, usb hand warmers, soft seating, food
Ditched blog, got Twitter and Facebook, but content is dull, namely closures, when wifi is down
Collaborate
Perfect is the enemy of good
Faculty newsletter...they don't care
Tell the faculty where the cuts are going to be and the faculty will go to the dean for additional funds
Give value for free
Took out the things that cluttered up the catalog and made it more user friendly
Checking out digital picture frame of photo archive
Protect your market
Make sure you're the place to go for everything
No hype necessary
Ideally patrons will be hyping the library.
Don't take yourself too seriously
At the end a lady stood up to tell us that "Wikipedia states that perfect is the enemy of good is an aphorism attributed to Voltaire." Thanks librarian, thibraraian.
